Class Descriptions

RECREATIONAL

Mini/Junior Ballet

This class is ideal for beginner or first time dancers looking to learn the basics of ballet. Incorporating across the floor, games and fun choreography, this class if perfect for those children who love to spin and twirl.

Mini/Junior Tap & Jazz

This class is geared toward beginner or first time dancers looking to learn the basics of dance movement. Incorporating across the floor, games and fun choreography this class if perfect for those children who are always on the go!

Mini/Junior Hip Hop

This class is dedicated to teaching dancers the basics movements of hip hop. Dancers will learn a number of combinations as well as a final routine.

Mini/Junior Acro

Our Mini and Junior Acro classes are a perfect for beginner dancers with lots of energy! This class is a cross between tumbling and acrobatics and focuses on flexibility, stamina and lots of fun tricks!

(Ages 5- 7)

Baby Ballet

A class for toddlers that love to dance! Baby Ballet will introduce your child to controlled movement while keeping the class fun with high energy games.

Jazz Babies

Jazz Babies class is a new this year! Similar to Baby Ballet and Tiny Tappers but with a focus on jazz.This class will introduce basic jazz skills and steps while teaching dancers fun choreography.

Tiny Tappers

Tiny Tappers is a fun way to introduce your child to dance. This class will introduce basic tap skills while teaching dancers fun choreography.

Teen Lyrical

Teen Lyrical is a perfect class for pre-teen and teen age dancers who are interested in the style of lyrical dance. Lyrical dance uses foundations from jazz and ballet to create long, graceful movements.

COMPETITIVE

Competitive Ballet

Competitive ballet is designed for intermediate/advance level dancers. Beginning the class with barre and stretching then moving through combinations in centre-floor and then across the floor. Great for dancers looking to improve their control and technique!

Competitive Pointe

Competitive ballet is an advanced level course for dancers who have had a minimum of 3 years competitive ballet training. Dancers must be approved by our ballet instructor prior to registering for this class.

Choreography Classes

Classes is dedicated to stretching, technical dance training, across the floor and learning choreography for multiple competition routines.

Technique & Conditioning

This class is crucial for dancers looking to increase their flexibility and build  strength.  Designed for intermediate/advance level dancers, Competitive Technique & Conditioning incorporates deep stretching with endurance and strengthening exercises, centre-floor and across the floor training.

Pre-Competitive Choreography

Our pre-competitive program is geared toward dancers who have had previous dance experience, but are interested in taking their dancing to the next level without the full commitment of competitive dance.Dancers will learn two choreographed competitive routines.

Pre-Competitive Technique

This class is part of our pre-competitive dance program and will introduce dancers to proper stretching technique as well as teach dancers basic centre-floor and across the floor combinations.

Competitive Dress Code

Competitive Ballet

  • Dancers must wear pink ballet tights with a black leotard of any style. Canvas style ballet shoes are also mandatory. Hair is to be pulled back into a bun.

Competitive Pointe

  • Dancers must wear pink ballet tights with a black leotard of any style. Pointe shoes are mandatory. Hair is to be pulled back into a bun.

Competitive Technique

  • Dress code is flexible, as long as dancewear allows dancers to stretch comfortably. Dancers must have beige toe undies or half-sole shoes for this class. Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Competitive Jumps & Turns

  • Dancewear must be form fitting to the body and allow for comfortable stretching. Dancers require beige toe undies or half-soles for this class. Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Pre-Competitive Technique

  • Dancers must wear dancewear that is form fitting to the body and allows for comfortable movement and stretching. Dancers will require jazz shoes, half soles or toe undies for this class. Hair is to be pulled back into a ponytail or bun.

Competitive Acro

  • Dancers must wear dancewear that is form fitting to the body and allows for comfortable movement and stretching. Hair must be pulled back into a ponytail. No dance shoes required.

Competitive Hip-Hop

  • Dancers must wear clothing that is loose fitting on the body. Oversized t-shirts, shorts, sweat pants or track pants. Dancers will require lace-up style sneakers that properly support the ankle. 

Competitive Tap

  • Dancers should wear clothing that is form fitting to the body that allows them to move freely. Dancers will require black tap shoes, preferably slip-on style. Tap shoes can the purchased at the DanceQuest Store
